Today's observations . . . .
Apr. 26th, 2004 10:34 amThe boss is out sick today. That's always a good thing.
****************
The Lyndon LaRouche supporters down by City Hall are like bill collectors gone terribly, terribly bad. They call you names, curse you out, get in your face and generally behave like public nuisances.
Because insulting me is so going to convince me to vote for your candidate.
Yeah, right.
***************
Spent Saturday at the hairdresser, went home and took a nap. The power was out -- someone took out a utility pole on Somerdale Road -- so there wasn't much else to do. My former deskmate called in a panic and woke me up to beg me to go shopping with her, as she is going on vacation next week and "has nothing to wear"!
I like hearing her beg. *eg*
I am also really enjoying this hair color and style. I almost don't want to give it up for summer . . . but I know that it will fade as a matter of course, and it seems silly to dye my hair almost black, only to have it lighten to brownish-red from the sun anyway. So I'm planning to go coppery-red for summer, and then in October or so, I'll switch back to the black cherry.
***************
I found myself sleeping a lot this weekend. I'm not sure if it's because I'm still getting over last week's bronchitis, or if it's just spring fever.
It might also be because I'm still having really cool dreams.
I still wish that I had a decent dream interpretation book. Anyone care to recommend a few titles?
***************
I got matched with a guy on eHarmony who has a positively Clarkian look to him. Unfortunately, his profile reads like an obsession with looks and physical fitness, which makes me wonder just why we were matched in the first place. But if I decide I want a personal trainer, I'll email him.
NOT.
***************
Restarted my exercise program this weekend, when I wasn't sleeping. You know it's time to work out more and eat ice cream less when you get stuck in the turnstile at the El.
I knew I should've gone in sideways.
Highly embarrassing, but at least there were no witnesses.
***************
Today I met my personal goal of getting up early enough to wear a new outfit, eat breakfast before leaving for work, and to put on makeup . . . and still get out the door on time.
In fact, I was twenty minutes early for work.
Sometimes I rock myself.
***************
Saw on the news about the NFL player-turned-Army Airborne Ranger. Sad on so many levels.
And how shallow and evil is it of me that I found myself thinking, "Why does it always have to happen to the really hot ones?"
I mean, have you seen the footage of the guy?
Woof.
Out of my reach anyway, as he was married and, although I have been accused of loose morals many times over the years, I have always maintained a pretty strict rule about getting involved with married men. I did it once, against my better judgement, and decided never to do it again.
Because it's wrong.
And it felt wrong.
Ewwww.
That's definitely something I totally regret doing.
**************
I bought an electric trimmer-thing and tried it out this weekend. I've never used an electric shaver, and I guess that I should've practiced some more before attempting to use it on, shall we say, sensitive areas.
I now have some pretty inexplicable nicks and a really weird area of total defoliation.
All I was aiming for was a nice trim!
Obviously, it didn't work out so well.
Sigh.
*************
The problem with eating breakfast at 7am is that I am now very hungry, and lunch isn't until one.
Grrrrrrrr.
*wanders off to forage for a snack*
