if you're a plus sized girl, and you have some bags of clothes that you were going to take down to a donation bin, you can box them up and send them out for the victims of Katrina to this address:
Helping Hands for Texas
c/o Alamo Premier Mortgage Group
10223 281 Freeway, Suite 200
San Antonio 78216
We're hearing that some of the larger women are forced to wear blankets and garbage bags because there are not enough clothes yet for their size range.
Most of you have probably already seen the above post elsewhere, but it's worth repeating.
Over the weekend, I collected all those little bottles of shampoo and conditioner and stuff that I always snag from hotels and then never actually use once I get home. I am boxing them up and sending them, along with towels, clothes, bras and panties, and can openers to friends of my Aunt Jinny's partner, Claire. These women are in Mississippi and lost everything as well, and have actually said that they don't want money, as there is nowhere to spend it. However, they need the basics... toilet paper and other paper goods, personal care items, and of course clothing.
It's not much, in the larger scheme of things, but it makes me feel good to be able to do SOMETHING, no matter how small a gesture it may turn out to be.
I wish I could do more.
