From my early teens, when I first discovered that my parents were more terminally lazy than criminally non-creative in naming both me and my brother after our mother and father, respectively, I have longed to change my name.

I don't know why, but I chose Sophie, and have stuck to it through all these years -- aside from a brief flirtation with Sara.

Then I found out how much damned money it costs to change your name for reasons other than marriage or divorce, and decided that it wasn't worth it.

Except that listening to my mom bitch about how her credit is trashed because we have the same name and credit bureaus just don't get the whole "female junior" thing . . . well, now I'm thinking that it might be worth it after all.

Hee. The good thing about bad credit is that no one will ever want to try and steal *my* identity, let me tell you!

But I'd still like to have a different name.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm curious as to how other people see me.
